| The
Indoor Beach Volleyball Federation
Incorporated of WA was founded on
the 1st June 1999 with five foundation
members coming from Joondalup, Malaga,
Kelmscott, Port Kennedy and Bunbury.
In 2004 we now have 8 centres involved
in the Federation joining us now
are Fremantle, Mandurah and Canning
Vale. By the end of 2005 we anticipate
another 2 centres joining the Federation
which are Osborne Park and Kalgoorlie.
The growth of Indoor
Beach Volleyball in Western Australia
has gone from its early days when
then was approx 3000 members per
week to present day 14000 members
per week and still growing.
The future of the
Indoor Beach Volleyball Federation
is to develop the game into a national
sport, with other centres now open
in Darwin, Alice Springs, Brisbane
and locations are now being looked
into over the Tasman in New Zealand.
The future of the
sports is looking stronger than
ever.
The Indoor Beach Volleyball
Federation of WA plans to develop
a national competition State by
State Superleague format and with
the inception of New Zealand joining
the National Competition at a later
date.
The Indoor Beach Volleyball
Federation will look at developing
further in the future by possibly
joining forces with Volleyball WA
and their Federation which can only
help Indoor Beach Volleyball awareness
in WA and the rest of the Country.
The Junior Development
programme which is in place at all
our centres has seen a big jump
in teams joining our Junior Leagues,
and School numbers have increased
by 25% year on year.
The future is looking
brighter than ever.
